apple crispFollowing a busy week, I truly savor my weekends!

As I lounge and read and nap, enjoying a lazy Saturday…nothing says fall like a little apple crisp in the oven…to share with friends tonight.

Apple Crisp

  • 6-8 apples (Harolson) peeled, cored, sliced (left one unpeeled for fun)
  • cinnamon

Topping:

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Fill 9×13 (or smaller) pan with the sliced apples.  Sprinkle with cinnamon. Combine the topping ingredients and sprinkle on top.  Bake at 350-375 degrees for 40-45 minutes. Serve warm with Vanilla Bean ice cream. For additional tastiness, add the caramel sauce below (that is what I plan to do tonight!)

Caramel Sauce

  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup cream
  • pinch of salt
  • 2 tsp. vanilla

Mix and simmer for 5-6 minutes.
