fight for cystic fibrosis

Did you know?

  • Approximately 30,000 children and adults have CF in the United States.
  • More than 10 million Americans are symptomless carriers of the defective CF gene.
  • The disease occurs in one of every 3,500 live births of all Americans and about 1,000 new cases of cystic fibrosis are diagnosed each year.

As my sweet teenage niece is spending time at the Children’s Hospital at the U of M, fighting off the effects of this disease, a group of some of her favorite people gathered to walk in the rain to raise money for a cure.  A photo text of her and her mama arrived to share the day with us…

I am walking away from this day with some thoughts…

  • the strength and courage and positive attitude of this girlie with CF is INCREDIBLE!
  • the compassion and generosity of people is AMAZING!
  • the struggles that so many individuals face each day, with difficult diagnoses and diseases makes me want to tell the whimpy whiners of the world to “suck it up!”
  • the value of living each day with a positive outlook and a desire to make the world a better place is MORE important than ever…
